The archeological area demonstrates that Feltria was a flourishing roman centre of the Gaul; the Castle of Alboino, on the highest side of the Citadel, evoks the difficult events experienced during the medieval period, which seemd to end with the surrender to Venice.
However, during the league of Cambrais, the city was burned and reduced to a heap of ruins by the troops of Maximilian of Hapsburg.
With the return of Venice, decades of reconstructions gave to the city the shapeknown nowadays: a centre of overt Reinassence influence, that wanted to keep the medieval urban structur prior to destruction.
