The "Knappensteig" runs for about 6.3 km between the Arthurhaus am Hochkönig and Bischofshofen. The old path from the Salzach valley up to the Mitterberg served the miners as a link between ore depot and workplace. In its curves and twists it was laid out in favour of the simplest possible transport of material.
The "Knappensteig" ski run is one of the longest in Austria.
