It is not just a simple drape. A piece of cloth is not the reason why the four districts of Feltre challenge each other in ability tests, for which they prepare for a whole year. The Palio of Feltre, which is made by international artists since 1986, is a meaningful symbol, it is a highly experienced event, which comes from the contribution of a hundreds of volunteers. Realized by Feltre's citizienz, this event is deeply rooted in the territory and history of the city and is nowadays an event of great appeal beyond local boundaries.
Since 30 years Feltre renew the ancient festivities and celebrates his own surrender to Venice in 1404, evoking the symbolic ceremony of handing over the town keys to the ambassador Bartolomeo Nani, that sanctioned the binding of Feltres and the Serenissimas fate. In memory of the event, every year on this occasion, it was decided to put up for grabs fifteen gold ducats awarded to the winner of the games.
