Consorzio del Tarvisiano - Go to Nature

Grego Refuge

A very pleasant and popular refuge; a typical wood and masonry structure in a very charming location surrounded by tall conifers. Not far from the Sella Sompdogna, it can be reached by car from Dogna riding along the whole valley by the same name followed by a 10-minute walk, or by car from Valbruna along the Val Saisera and the Malga Saisera path (1 h, T-E). The refuge was erected in 1927 in memory of Attilio Grego, a highly decorated first world war combatant. Forty years later, it also took the names of Attilio's brothers (Remigio, who died in the Russian prisoner’s camp of Oranku in 1943, and Ferruccio, who died in a mountain accident in 1966).
From here, one can climb the Jof of Miezegnot and Jof of Sompdogna. You can also take the spectacular crossing to the Pellarini Refuge by way of the Stuparich and Mazzeni Bivouac Shelters, and to the Sella Nabois; this is one of the most interesting and charming excursions of the Italian Julian Alps (8 h - EE).
