Consorzio del Tarvisiano - Go to Nature

Monte Borgo-Deer Park Walk

From Tarvisio’s Via Romana, an ancient street located at the upper limit of town, follow Via delle Pinete. This street goes up near the Forestal Palace, where the State Forestry Department is currently based, and soon reaches "Parco Cervi" (Deer Park), near which begins the path that runs along the slopes of Mount Borgo. Just before the Park, cross the little bridge over the Rio Borgo river and take the path made with comfortable wooden steps leading uphill inside the woody slope, which features interesting hundred-year-old spruce and beech trees. The path goes up quickly along the park fence, a big beautiful glade and a forest track (860 m). A lot of panoramic sightseeing can be done along the woody trail, including the town of Tarvisio, the Mangart and Ponze mountain ranges and Mounts Priesnig and Florianca. Slightly downhill on the woody trail, you reach a well-signposted junction at an altitude of 825 m; here you leave the road and gi on to the left along the easy path that continues halfway up the woods. A gentle slope takes you down almost inadvertently and soon you are back on historic Via Romana near the little church of San Michele at Tarvisio Centrale station. Here begins the comfortable return to Tarvisio, which will take no more than 40 minutes.
