The project GoToNATURE | GOvernance, TOurism and NATURE aims to improve the quality of the local tourist offer and to develop tourist products that promote the natural and cultural resources. The GoToNATURE project is presented as the natural continuation and development of the S.Co.Re project. "Sustainable and Competitive REsorts".
The programme area includes a wide variety of sites of natural, cultural and historical interest, part of a unique cross-border circuit of Integrated Tourist Products devoted to the following themes: active holidays, agri-food, culture, crafts and folklore of which these areas are full of examples.
We need to develop a vision of the area as a shared economic asset to be protected and valued. Therefore, the project’s objective is to create a model of local development based on the sustainable use of less well-known tourist destinations and their natural and cultural heritage.
To accomplish this, the following are envisaged:
1) Improve local governance of tourism, sharing with the local people and economic operators an idea of management of the tourist destination. For this purpose, a model of tourism governance will be developed.
2) Include the principles of the "European Chart for Sustainable Tourism" (ECTS) in the design of innovative tourist products. For this purpose, a toolkit for sustainable tourism will be developed, to be applied in pilot actions.
3) Design a high quality tourist offer that combines active holidays, wellness, nature and culture with agri-food, crafts and folklore.
The new products developed with the same criteria will be promoted and marketed as a unique cross-border tourist circuit.
